Portugal native, Sónia Afonso calls the world home, having lived in Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan and Norway. Since 2016 home is Lake Forest, in the northern Chicago suburbs. During her three years in Japan, Sónia studied photography and web design. Her work is inspired by the places she has lived in and cultures she experienced. Sonia started taking art classes seven years ago, where she developed her skills on portraits and is now exploring fine art painting.
